Irishwomen, migration, the diaspora and foreign relations
The Women's History Association of Ireland Annual Conference 2013 will be hosted at the University of Limerick this coming Friday and Saturday.
Keynote speakers include Professor Suellen Hoy, University of Notre who will present a paper titled 'Good Enough to Send Away: Chicago's Irish Women and Their Ways', Dr Ciaran Reilly, Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Department of History, NUI Maynooth who will speak on the 'Destitution, prostitution, emigration: The reality of life for women during Ireland's Great Famine'.In the second part of the conference Dr Gavin Wilk will present his paper, 'The plight of female loyalists in the midland's from the Truce to the Civil War, 1922'. Also, well known Director/Producer for Television/Radio and Writer Brenda Ni Shuilleachain will of the Irish women and American in the twentieth century.
