Summer at the University Concert Hall

This June visitors to Limerick will have the opportunity to experience folk music, choral music, opera singers and musical genius at the University Concert Hall.
Kicking o ff the summer on May 31 is the High Kings Ireland:Playing 13 instruments between them the High Kings Ireland bring a unique acoustic sound. Folk Band of the year The High Kings is comprised of Finbarr Clancy, Brian Dunphy, Martin Furey and Darren Holden. Coming from accomplished musical pedigrees, The High Kings grew up in households soaked in the Irish musical tradition and each member of the band witnessed first hand the power of well crafted Irish music on an audience. Since The High Kings started, they have sold out hundreds of shows in Ireland and the US, won The Best Folk Band for three years running, made numerous TV appearances, performed at the invitation of the past Irish President Mary McAleese and President Obama.
Sunday June 2nd choirs visiting from different parts of the world will gather in Limerick for the Limerick Sings International Choral Festival. Come and join Limerick choirs at the University Concert Hall from 3pm, together with some visiting choirs for the celebration of choral music. All tastes will be catered for as choirs entertain you with a selection of music that includes gospel music, popular choral selections, operatic choruses and musical theatre.
On Thursday June 6 the Three Sopranos Summer Gala with star sopranos Celine Byrne, Regina Nathan and Cara O'Sullivan will be joining us on campus. Following sell-out concerts and standing ovations in Dublin two years running, the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra proudly presents, for the first time in Limerick.
One of the highlights of summer takes place June 13 + 14 this summer when one of broadway's most distinctive voices Colm Wilkinson takes to the stage.He is best known as the original Jean Valjean and the Phantom, roles he created and embodied in London, Toronto and New York productions of Les Misérables and Phantom of the Opera. Colm plays the Bishop of Digne in the new Les Misérables movie alongside Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway and Russell Crowe.
