Bring Your Limericks to Limerick

Monday July 08, 2013

An international Limericks poetry competition will be held at the University of Limerick as part of the inaugural Tailteann Nua festival, August 2 - 5, 2013. Over 70 submissions have been received so far from 16 different countries. Dominic Taylor of The Limerick Writers' Centre feels that this is a unique opportunity for Limerick especially in the run up to 2014 when Limerick will be Irish City of Culture. Coinciding with the competition and festival The Limerick Writers Centre have commissioned local historian Matthew Potter to write a history of the 'Limerick' and its association with the area.
