Special Olympics 2014
Wednesday June 11, 2014
2,000 special Olympians will grace the UL campus this week from the 12th-15th June for the Special Olympic Ireland Games.
The opening parade is set to take place on O'Connell Street, Limerick city at 6:00pm and is open to all members of the public to come along to welcome and support the athletes, coaches and their families.
This will be followed by an opening ceremony in the People's Park at 6:30pm which will be a fully ticketed event. Street performers, marching bands and plenty of entertainment will make for a colourful evening co-produced by Limerick National City of Culture 2014.
The games will commence at 9:00am on Friday 13th June on the UL campus grounds and will run through until 4:00pm on Sunday 15th June.
After the success of 2010, we are delighted to be able to host the games and to have the athletes stay with us here on campus over the four days.
We look forward to a fun filled weekend and wish all athletes the best of luck.
