Annual SFAI Kennedy Cup 2014
Monday June 16, 2014
The annual SFAI Kennnedy Cup is kicking off today here on campus and will run through until Friday 20th June. The U-13 boys soccer tournament will see teams representing all 32 leagues in Ireland compete throughout the week. The capital have predominantly stamped their authority across the competition with North Dublin schoolboys victorious in 2011, and the hot favourites Dublin and District out to retain the title for the third consecutive year. However, it may be time for the Kennedy Cup to bid farewell to the Big Smoke as did the Gaynor Cup earlier this month. Dublin Metropolitan girls league were out for a similar three-in-a-row reign but Galway smashed hopes of this with a 1-0 victory. The Kennedy Cup will be used as an aid by FAI coaching staff to scout upcoming soccer talent with possible call-ups to development squads on the cards for some of the players. We would like to wish all teams the best of luck and look forward to the sporting week ahead.
