Limerick Sings International Choral Festival 2017

Tuesday January 24, 2017

Limerick Sings invites you to the 5th International Choral Festival from the 22nd to the 26th June 2017.

Limerick Sings International Choral Festival is designed to offer choirs of all traditions and nationalities an opportunity to come together for a weekend of festive, non–competitive singing.

Don’t miss the chance to join the “Big Sing” at the Cliffs of Moher, a truly unique singing experience. The “Big Sing” element of the festival offers choristers the opportunity to sing with other choral groups in one of the most majestic settings in Ireland and a natural wonder of the world.

Choirs have the opportunity to sing their own repertoire in some of Ireland’s finest music venues and to join a performance with choristers from other countries.

The festival programme includes:

- Performing opportunities in Limerick City and County

- Big Sing at the Cliffs of Moher on Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way

- Choral Trail around the medieval Limerick City

- Come Sing Workshop with Anuna’s Education Programme

The festival performances are held in spectacular venues featuring City and County venues during our Choral Trail as well as St. John’s Cathedral and the University Concert Hall, on the grounds of University of Limerick campus along with Holy Trinity Abbey in the charming village of Adare.

Limerick City, Ireland’s oldest chartered city has a strong tradition of choral, opera and musical theatre dating back to the 19th century.  Limerick City extends a warm welcome to choristers from around the world to explore our bustling modern city, steeped with a rich medieval past, which resounds around its ancient streets.

The social programme of the festival allows choirs to meet and mingle with each other and to also explore the city and surrounding region. There will also be a chance to socialise with the local Limerick host choirs.

Festival package price starts from €260.00 per person and includes 3 night’s accommodation with continental breakfast, participation at the concerts, welcome reception at University Concert Hall, Festival Club Nights and a Choral Trail, Transport to the Big Sing and admission to the Cliffs of Moher and a Sunday barbeque.

Accommodation for the Choral Festival is available in charming and attractive apartment style villages on the University campus grounds. Guests are welcome to arrive any day of the week prior to the festival. Limerick is a great base for touring and visitors can arrange additional tours to go sightseeing along the Wild Atlantic Way and Ireland’s South West.
